Coal Bunker Fires

Coal Bunker Fires

Material stored in bunkers or bins can heat up based on environmental conditions. Due to insufficient ventilation, pressure and friction, the occurrence of a smouldering fire is likely to occur.  Traditional safety measures like smoke or gas detection for NOX, SO2, and CO, even infrared cameras cannot always detect hot spots within the bulk material. Our DTS solution can detect temperatures at various levels in bunkers and bins even below ground level on large stockpiles and on reclaim tunnel ceilings and coal valves, thereby providing early warning of heat build-up and hot spots within bulk material.
