Advanced Photonics Australia was invited to present at Mining Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (MEMMES) – Engineers Australia – the benefits of Power Cable Monitoring using Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) technology this week. Our Director, Ubaldo Torre, has presented how the technology works and its potential benefits for the mining industry.
The Power Cable Monitoring application allows companies to avoid cable insulation burnout, provides exact location of faults for faster repair of cable or power line and builds a thermal profile of the cable.
The Real Time Thermal Rating (RTTR) technology detects and locates hotspots along the cable route, including joints and plugs and calculates current carrying capacity & overload situation to enable smart load shedding.
It was a pleasure to present at MEMMES, who does a lot of the hard work in helping develop Mechanical and Electrical safety standards for the mining industry. We thank MEMMES for the support and we hope to keep raising the safety standards of the mining industry in Australia, together.
We look forward to our next collaboration with MEMMES Australia!
