As one of the Directors at Advanced Photonics Australia, Aldo channels his engineering expertise into developing fibre optic solutions for sites across Australia.
He evaluates fire safety needs, applying innovative solutions to enhance safety and optimise operations.
With over 30 years of experience in the coal mining sector, Aldo’s impact has been profound.
Starting as an Electrical Engineer, he contributed to designing and constructing water and wastewater infrastructure in Victoria. His expertise expanded into instrumentation and Process Control Systems Engineering with Fluor Australia, pivotal in oil/gas and food industry projects.
Relocating to Newcastle, Aldo made significant contributions at Hunter Control, Matrikon, and Honeywell, progressing from Engineering, Project Management, Engineering Manager, General Manager to Marketing Leader in the Asia Pacific region.

As a Director at Advanced Photonics Australia, Les is on a mission to innovate safety approaches.
Collaborating closely with mining and heavy industry clients, he leverages his experience to identify site risks and provide expert solutions, aiming to enhance safety and reduce downtime through cutting-edge advancements.
Les began his technical journey at BHP’s Newcastle Steel Works, gaining expertise with supervisory roles in chemical and pharmaceutical plants, working for industry giants like Orica and ICI.
Transitioning into contractor and consultant roles with Hunter Control, Honeywell, and Sedgman, Les founded Integration Automation and Control (IAC) in 2000, focusing on systems integration.
Under Les’s leadership, IAC executed automation and software projects for mining clients in Australia and internationally. The success of IAC led to its acquisition in 2009. Les then contributed his expertise as Lead Control Systems Engineer for BHP, FMG, and Origin, steering feasibility studies and overseeing the optimisation of processing facilities.
